Swiss-made energy recovery for demanding buildings
Konvekta designs, delivers and supports advanced energy recovery systems that capture and reuse thermal energy in demanding buildings such as hospitals, laboratories, universities and other complex facilities.
Our purpose is to help make buildings carbon-neutral by recovering energy that would otherwise be lost. Every day, vast amounts of energy are wasted as heat is vented into the atmosphere. We help recover that energy, delivering maximum energy recovery with the lowest lifecycle cost.
For decades, we have developed and manufactured every core component of our energy recovery technology in house. Headquartered in St. Gallen, Switzerland, where our development and production are based, we employ approximately 90 people across our core regions in DACH, the USA and Asia.

Built on decades of innovation
In 1975 Konvekta started the development of software for the energetic and economic optimization of energy recovery systems. Later, the building simulation program DOE-2 was integrated as a basis for these optimization calculations.
Due to the first extensive calculations in supercomputer centers of that time, Konvekta was able to gain a technological advantage early on. The latest computer platforms and innovative calculation algorithms significantly shortened the computing time for simulations and optimizations, enabling Konvekta to implement detailed calculations in the Digital Twin approach with high precision in the shortest possible time. Today, the Konvekta Controller is able to perform demand-based control, provide proof of energy recovery, and ensure continuous function monitoring of the entire system. Thanks to this continuous development, Konvekta systems are world leaders with their unique technology.

Founding of Konvekta GmbH in Vienna, Austria
Strengthening of market activities in Austria
- 2018
Founding of Konvekta China in Shanghai
Strengthening of market activities in Austria
- 2016
Application of new approaches to mathematics
Development of the promising market in China
- 2014
Introduction of the 4th generation of the Konvekta Controller
Substantial extension of the control and monitoring functions. Thanks to the new user interface, detailed function monitoring is possible.
- 2013
Market entry in Austria
Cooperation with an established sales and service partner
- 2010
Foundation of Konvekta USA Inc. in Princeton
Development of the North American market (USA and Canada)
- 2010
Introduction of the 3rd generation of the Konvekta Controller
The software is newly created in large part and enables even more complex systems to be controlled more precisely.
- 2007
Introduction of the 2nd generation of the Konvekta Controller
Integration of the latest hardware generation and renewal of the software. The continuous comparison between the calculated TARGET values of important plant data and the actually achieved ACTUAL values allows an assessment of the plant operation. Any malfunctions are immediately detected, analyzed and reported. This continuous function monitoring enables a significant increase in operational reliability.
- 1998
First Konvekta Controller
Control of the entire energy recovery system. With the delivery not only of the ERS heat exchangers, but also of the ERS regulation and the hydraulic assembly, the step from component supplier to system supplier was made.
- 1993
Integration of the DOE-2 building simulation program
Thanks to the hourly calculations of all 8760 hours of a year, the variable uses of the building in the course of the day and the resulting variable operating conditions could be taken into account.
- 1992
Founding of Convecta GmbH Germany
First market expansion abroad
- 1980-1990
Further development of the software
Adaptation to changing requirements (e.g. single-stage, two-stage, with variable air volume flow rates).
- 1975-1979
Development of the first software for the energetic optimization of cycle multiple zone systems
Already at that time, energy quantities, instead of a power at only one operating point, were used as the basis of ERS optimization.
- 1949
Founding of Konvekta AG in St. Gallen-Winkeln
Production of laminated air heaters, air coolers, convectors
